kia ora
can't believe that i have spent a week at here
wellington, the capital city of new zealand
yet, i haven't accustom the lifestyle here
their weather, accent, roads, internet services, laundry...
~the weather~ wow! it is so windy here although the sunlight is very strong
due to the strong and chill wind, you can walk for 1 hour under the strong sunlight and won't sweat
yea~ so it is pretty comfortable to walk at here
IF you had accustomed the cool weather
as i spent longer time here, i start to miss malaysia sunshine and hot weather
sometimes, when i feel freezing here
the other passer-by just wear singlet and skirt or just a dress
i feel like: wow, am i abnormal? why i will feel cold so easily?!
and the sunlight is... wow! so strong
no matter we are walking under the sun at 10am, 12noon, 4pm...
it is as if we walking during 12 noon in malaysia
can you imagine how strong is the uv light?
i gonna get piles of sunburn lotion to keep myself from tanned skin and skin cancer
~new zealander --> kiwi~
people here are really nice and helpful, most of them
for example, they are very gentleman and let the ladies go out from the lift first
my senior told us, once he lost his cellphone, luckily the person who pick it called him back and return the cellphone to my senior
their accent is very different from English and American
they speak english very fast, so sometimes, it is quite difficult to understand what are they saying
hmm, about the body size...
wow, they are huge!
most of the male and female at here are taller than me
therefore, i look pretty slim and tiny when i am standing among them, as if I am still a children... ouch
~my temporarily accommodation~
due to my campus residence hall move in date is 20 of February and the hostel is so cruel that they don't allow us to move in earlier
hence, meeting service officers of VUW(my uni) picked us up and headed to my temporarily accommodation -->nomads backpackers hostel
i get shocked at the time i stepped into my room
well, that is a 10 beds dorm
at first, i thought i only share the rooms with my malaysian friends
but... there are white people already there before we came
2 male and 2 female
don't worry about my safety, my roommates are fine so far...
luckily i have moved into my lovely residence hall
it is on 5th floor(again...), i can see beautiful city view through my apartment and room window
(that is the part i like the most!^^)
well, i will share my room's picture soon
give me sometime to upload it
hmm, and you know what, i can hardly see a fan in building here
i think they only use heater instead of cooling electronic devices
~the city~
yesterday, our malaysian seniors brought us walked around in wellington
(the malay seniors are so friendly and helpful, they met us in the airport, lead us to uni, told us every information we urged to know...)
the street here is very clean, you can't even see garbage on the street
and surprisingly, i can't see stray dogs and cats here
however, there are lots of birds, my friends claimed that some of them can be found in malaysia
despite wellington is capital city of new zealand, there is no congestion happen at here
and you won't feel air pollution, it is not a smoky atmosphere as kl
the drivers here drive so slow and abide the law
they will slow down their car when the traffic light turn yellow
and stop their car in front of the zibra crossings if there are people want to cross the road
it is totally different with malaysian drivers!!!
i love the services here, it is very efficient and treat customer in a nice way
the workers in post office speak to the customers in a friendly tone and won't show a poker face as malaysian gov. department workers
they are happily to answer your further questions and won't get frustrated
the only thing make me unhappy is
there is too much hills and stairs here
whenever i go to uni, shops, walk around
i have to climb up and down the hill
i am tiring walking now! >.<
~food~
people here usually eat cereal as breakfast and sandwich for lunch
and they take yogurt in the morning
that's why suraj said malaysian people are cacat
eat yogurt during afternoon time
the way he said as if he is not malaysian, haha! but we know he is just kidding
there are lots of malaysian food restaurant here
not mamak style and expensive
they sell roti canai for about NZD 8
when i read the menu
the first thing cross into my mind was:"wow!! what the hell?! we need to spend 8++ nzd to get a 2bucks roti canai in malaysia?!!"
*fainting*
i will never eat any roti canai here, i swear!
the sin chew bee hun, fried rice, etc. are a lot, is like double or triple size of what we can get in malaysia
the sausage here is very tasty
made by beef
frankly, i almost eat beef for every meal now
(which i won't do in malaysia)
due to it is easier to be found and cheap here
and healthier? i suppose
miss you guys in malaysia
*hugs*
